Cota d' Ivoire pronounced as Kot Diva (in English called Ivory Coast) is a country in Western sub Saharan Africa. The Gulf of Guinea to the south, Mali and Burkina Faso to the north Ghana to the east and Liberia and Guinea to the west are its neighbors.

The archeologists are not sure about early history of Ivory Coast, though some argues that there was Neolithic culture. Akan groups (Agni,and Baoule) invaded Ivory Cost in 19th century. It became a protectorate of France in 1843 - 1844 and in 1893 became a Colony of French.

Cote d'Ivoire / Ivory Coast got independence from France in 1960. Félix Houphouët-Boigny ruled Ivory Coast since 1960 onwards but the administration was hampered by two coups one in 1999 and other in 2001 and Civil War since 2002. The political instability destroyed the economic development of Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast is a republic and President of Ivory Coast holds the power of head of the state. The official language is French. The administration of Ivory Coast is divided into 19 regions and 58 departments.

77% people living in Ivory Coast are Ivorian, these represents different language and people group. Locales speak more than 65 languages, most common is Dyula spoken among Muslim people.

The economy of Ivory Coast is mainly market based and depends on Agriculture and Agriculture based products. Approximately 70% Ivorian nationals work in fields. The Ivory Coast is the largest producer and exporter of Coffee, Cocoa beans and Palm Oils.
